We have a friend who was a percussionist in the Honolulu Symphony, but he had to leave Hawaii when they stopped paying him. So sad.

Yes, the French have a cultural tendency to blame someone else. But first you need to understand why this is so. The French strive for perfection, and when it is not attained, they are trained from birth to blame someone else.

MSNBC keeps quoting the CBS poll 81% approval of full body scanners, but what percent of that 81% are actually people who fly? Ask only the frequent flyer community (folks who travel more than 3 times a year), and I bet you'll get a resounding NO.

The CBS poll says 81% of Americans support the new procedures. I bet only a small fraction of those people are regular fliers. I hope the boycott / blockage next Wednesday succeeds.

RJ- Did you look at the World Health Org stats? Everyone in most of Europe gets basic healthcare coverage for free. In France, you can "top up" with a private plan.

Thanks, spiritdance. I looked it up - fewer than 30% of US citizens have passports. Yet most of that other 70% feels free to criticize a place they've never been.
